Want More Traffic to Your HubPages...Without Buying it? PART I
Let's face, everybody wants more traffic to his or her own Hub. After all, isn't that why writers write - for the love of writing and to share with others!. But how much more rewarding when readers not only read our work, but enjoy and directly benefit from our Hubs - much more so when readers take the time to positively comment on our Hubs or offer constructive critism.
HubPages is a great place for writers, both great and small, to congregrate, share and/or perfect their writing talents Once you get started, HubPages offers one of the most optimal publishing platforms to showcase your knowledge, skills and talents. This Hub will briefly outline some of my 'Traffic Secrets' that I use to bring in more traffic to my Hubs.
There are basically two types of traffic to a writer's Hub - one being internal organic traffic and the other external non-organic traffic or what you have referred to as "buying traffic'. Let's first explore how to get better exposure and thus traffic to your Hubs directly from Hubpages.
Internal Sources of HubPages Traffic:
Content: One of the best sources of traffic is really good content; information that informs, educates, empowers or otherwise directly benefits the reader. Isn't it interesting how really good Hubs make their way around the Hubbers community. Writing Hubs with great content instantly brands you as an expert.
Branding
Branding: Consistently writing informative and descriptive surrounding a particular theme or topic instantly brands you the author of the Hub as a expert in the field. You may even want to provide a brief description of some of your other published works in magazines, online journals or contributions to various other forms of media. And, why not occasionally provide or include titles from some of your other Hubs on a similar or related topics. Keep your profile on HubPages general and try to tie in some of the categories, topics and interesting subjects you typically write. Try to include a consistent photo of yourself or some other form such as a graphic like a logo or picture or pehaps a definite writing style that is easily recognizable and attributed to you and consistent with your other styles. The use of branding in your Hubs and writing styles with deinfinety lend a lot of credibilty to both you, your writing and opinions afforded and to your Hubs.
Credibility
Credibility: All right. Now that you have wrote some awesone Hubs that focus on benefits to the reader (i.e. good content), and have linked your Hubs together thematically (i.e. branding), you should begin to start building credibility from great content and an expert status. Everybody loves a winner; who doesn't enjoy being popular and bask in the admiration from others! As you begin to grow and develope your Hubs and writing style, you will begin to become more and more credible as a Hubber and more importantly, as a distinguished expert in your chosen field/topic. As you begin to create Hub on a particular topic, you and your information and opiinions with be trusted and respected highly amongst your Hubber peers. consequently, you, your Hubber profile or Hubs will be referred to or even physically connected through the occasional hypertext links.
Law of Attraction - Popularity
Law of Attraction - Popularity: To summarize, once you have writen great content for your Hubs, on a central theme with proper use of semantic keywords you instant benefit from name branding and credibility. Thus, Hubber naturally start mentioning your HubPages username and often cite your titles directly in their Hubs, thereby increasing your organic traffic to your Hubs. Moreover, once other Hubbers begin visiting your Hub on a particular title mentioned, they will also begin browsing your profile and likely some of your other topically-relevant Hubs. These three basic principles really encapsulate the theory and practice of hubs on the Internet, which I believe is the fundamental core framework behind the creation and adaptation of HubPages brand. These three characteristics of an organically driven Hub produce great targeted traffic and serve to build commonality and relationships between Hubbers. These loosely bound 'relationships' often result in Hubbers being directly linked to in Hubs and is often referred to as "relationship branding".
Law of Reciprocity
Law of Reciprocity: By taking the time to answers posted questions, particpating in forums, Hubbers tend to reciprocate kindness, further resulting them joining your fan clubs, answering requests for Hub you post, commenting on your Hubs. These activities by other Hubbers also increase your Hub Scores and further serve to increase exposure.
Linking Strategies
Linking: Hubbers that are highly respected for their content, credibility, contributions and expert status are often physically linked via a hypertext link.
HubPages
HubPages: With increased exposure through your Hubpages content, a well-written profile, branding and credibility at your disposal, it is likely that your pages pages will increase in rank and your Hub score will also increase as well. These increases in score will often result in being featured on the home page under Featured Hubber, or under the Hot, Best, or Latest Hubs. Not too recently, I noticed one of my Hubs being featured on the "Featured Topics Page" here at HubPages. Once you log into your account, Hubbers have the option to click various links on across the main menu along the top left hand corner of the HubPages landing page, which include: <<BROWSE>> <Hubs> <Hubbers> <Requests> <Topics> <Forums> <Hubtivity>. Being featured on the first three pages of these categories will more likely than not increase the organic traffic to your Hubs -especially Hubbers using the <Search> feature on HubPages.
Conclusion
The moral of the story is that the more topics you write on, with the more Hubs you have, combined with increased exposure from commenting on the Hubs and being featured, the more likely you are to receive increased organic traffic from within HubPages. Please stay tuned for the second part of this two-part series on "How to Increase Traffic to Your HubPages...Without Buying It.

I enjoyed viewing this information
Wonderful! I think you wrapped up everything that is great about HubPages and how to utilize the tools within this particular venue. I was trying to think of what my Hubs "say" about me, and what my expertise is... Unfortunately, I tend to write about random interesting stuff I find and want the world to know about... or atleast my friends here at HP. I am off to find a niche, wish me luck! =)
I think this hub provides a good overview. I believe another way of getting traffic is writing comments on people's hubs and on the forums, as I a sure a few people must click the profile if they find the particular comment to be interesting. However, if all that is written is considerered to be spam then people are less likely to click through. Another useful source of traffic is by getting fans, as many of these will get email notifications everytime a new hub is published, giving an initial surge of views after publication.
